Studio Log: Starweek Four (X-Week)

This week was bats. We were swamped with big non-collaborative projects, so this week's blog post is, yet again, not the planned themed post we've been talking about for weeks. Next week? Fingers crossed.

  • Studio Project of the Week:
Rainburrow! This week we did some very important studio organizing, which involved organizing ALL THE COLORS. Above our full-spectrum studio closet doors is our studio credo (to which we do not always adhere).
"If I sleep with someone, they're going to take my creativity from me through my vagina." --Lady Gaga

  • Studio Jam of the Week:
Of course. It follows--

  • Houseguest Happening of the week:
Nora's friend Raph came to visit us for the weekend, and we discovered we all had something in common...

CAT SHIRTS

  • Confusing Discovery of the Week:
In an empty storefront near the studio. Umm... We'd shop there.

Uuhhmm...

  • Cat Photo of the Week:

I said SH!
Hopefully we'll feel less like Ripley in this photo next week.

Studio Log: Starweek Three

Happy Sunday! We know we promised a theme for this week, but we're going to sit on it for another week, so look for it next Sunday. This week seems to be accidentally "cat themed." But when isn't everything in our lives cat themed?

  • Studio Projects of the Week:
1. Cat. Experiments.

2. Burrow T-Shirt! Nora screenprinted this Burrow T-Shirt for Lucy the other day. Would you be interested in owning one yourself? Let us know via email or comment.

  • Studio Happening of the Week:
We went out to the Chicago suburbs to Nora's aunt Janice's house to watch a True Blood season 3 marathon. It's quite a viscous show, so the 12-hour viewing was MEGA VISCOUS. The fake blood budget on that show must be astronomical! In retrospect, it was probably not the best idea to make themed snacks for the event, as the beet salad, pomegranate juice and raspberry pie seemed less appealing than they might usually have done...

Trueblood Season 3 Marathon

  • Studio Jam of the Week: "Feel Like Going Back Home" from the Bran Nue Dae soundtrack (We went to see this movie at the ONE movie theater in Chicago where it's playing. Shocked that the rest of the country seems oblivious to the awesomest Australian musical with Geoffery Rush of all time.)

  • Studio Munch of the Week:

Eggs in Avacado Oil with veggies and polenta and cheese!

Polenta with avacado, black bean, tomato, spinach and onion in balsamic, cheese and egg fried in avacado oil (a new acquisition). Side of pencil, to indicate that we worked through dinner.

  • Kitty Photo of the Week: Double decker cats!

Studio Log: Starweek Two

Sorry we're posting late in the day-- we wanted to save it for after we recuperated from the Renegade Craft Fair earlier today, and plus; it takes this long to get this much amazingness into one place!

  • Studio Happening of the Week:
1.The Renegade Craft Fair. Last December (and this coming) we worked at the Holiday Renegade Craft Fair, but the summertime one is just too hot and hardcore for us. It was practically too hot to even attend, let alone work there, but we muscled through and check out all the great stuff we got!

2. Stars of the Lyric Opera at Millennium Park. Despite being damp and chilly, the singing was beautiful and the city was gorgeous.

  • Studio Projects of the Week:
1. Star Wars Table: Nora found this amazing... Item... in the alley (like so much of our furniture), and had to rescue it for us. We wrangled a board from the hands of the Home Depot Denizens and lacquered it (you know, cuz we classy). Look how fancy pants!
Star Wars Table!

2. Becki's Birthday Blingun: In honor of our pal Becki's birthday we purchased a crystal vodka bottle in the shape of a handgun. It wasn't quite amazing enough, so we glued rhinestones all over it. We think she liked it.

  • Studio Quotes of the Week:
1. Nora: "'If you don't believe us, ask an ugly friend!'"
2. Lucy: "Nothing says, 'I'm sorry for your loss' like a turquoise bolo tie."
  • Studio Jam of the Week:
Home, by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
  • Kitty Photo of the Week:

Thanks for reading-- Next week has a special THEME!

  • Studio Quotes of the Week:
Nora: "The bank lady says we need electrolytes."
Lucy: "Can we buy those at Best Buy?"

Nora: "In our house we don't have Freudian Slips, we have Gillian Anderson Slips."
Lucy: "Gillian Anderson in a slip!?"
