Studio Log: Starweek Seventeen (T-Minus 24 Hours)

We decided to forego the usual Sunday update in favor of doing a Wednesday one, as our DEPARTURE IS IMMINENT.

It's 24 hours until we leave for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The preparations were mighty, but we're all ready to set out on our voyage! See below:

(Alright, so in all actuality we haven't packed at all. There's still 24 hours to pack!)

If you live in or around Orlando and wanna hang out while we're in town, we'll be arranging at least one meetup during the week. Wanna be pals with us and participate in this adventure? More info about the hangouts here:

Studio Log: Starweek Sixteen

  • Studio Projects of the Week:
  • 1. Kick-Ass Annies for Koyama Press: Annie Koyama of Koyama Press has been doing the "Kick-Ass Annie Project," which is a collection of artist interpretations of her Koyama Press logo. Here are The Burrow's additions to the project.
    Koyama Press bag
Nora's fabulous printed, appliqued and hand-sewn kick-ass tote bag.
    Kick-Ass Annie
    And Lucy's spikey-haired book-stomping rendition.

2. T-Shirts: Keeping with our tradition of enabling one-another's total nerd adoration in the form of T-Shirt Creation Worship, here are another two Burrow Studio T-Shirts. Drawn by Lucy and hand-printed by Nora. The Buffy Shirts are available on our Burrow Store, and the Star Wars Shirt is (for now) only available at Las Manos Gallery in Andersonville. (Online soon!)
Nerd T-Shirts of the Week
Dayum! Look how hot Sarah Michelle Gellar and Mark Hammil look in our sexy T-Shirts!
Don't you wanna be like them?

  • Studio Outing of the Week: The Static Creep Show at Las Manos Gallery had its opening last friday, and The Burrow was in attendance along with a TON of awesome people. We saw some great art, including original pages by Lucy and our pals Sarah Becan, Corinne Mucha, and the fabulous Nicole Hollander. We drooled over some gorgeous (and unattainably expensive) art by our new friend-crush, Jenny Frison. We chatted with pals, and sold Star Wars T-Shirts and drank wine. Fun times-- thanks to those of you who came out to hang with us! The show will be up through Feb 6th, so check it out if you can.

  • Studio Jam of the Week: Just in case any of you follow us on twitter, we absolutely (do not) apologize for the recent spate of Buffy-obsessed tweets, especially our total breakdown about the musical episode. Our Buffyquest has brought us into the sixth season, where this glorious pinnacle of television programming has completely taken over all studio airspace. Keeping in mind that, until recently, Lucy was uninterested in this "Joss Whedon" nonsense, we find it pretty impressive that this show has now TAKEN OVER HER LIFE. Please enjoy this musical number. ENJOY IT NOW.
Every moment spent not watching Buffy is a moment spent IN HELL.

  • Kitty Photos of the Week: Ripley's dewey-decimal # is 666. No-one was surprised by this. (Linney's DD# is BLORP).

Studio Log: Starweek Fifteen

YAYAYYY MAGICAL KICKSTARTER WOOOOO!
Well folk, thanks to your generous support, we'll be embarking on our journey to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, to make comics and drink butterbeer and think hard about American consumerism while we balm our broken hearts with manatees. For this adventure, we have you to thank, so LETS HIGH FIVE ALL OF YOU!

HIGH FIVES TO ALL OUR GENEROUS BACKERS!
We won't letcha down.
Departing to Orlando January 27th, where we'll stay before hustling back to the frigid wastelands of Chicago on February 4th. If anyone down in Orlando or thereabouts would like to hang out or meet up, please let us know via email or comment. We're especially curious about people who have worked in or live near the parks-- what's it like? Wanna be in a comic?

  • Studio Jam of the Week: Like it's Quidditch, by Nice Peter

Thanks to our pal, Tana Ford, for the tip off about this song!
Though... We have listened to it an unhealthy amount this week... so...
Tana, you will be getting our doctor bills.

  • Studio Projects of the Week:
1. Burrow Studio Ukulele cover of JBieb'z "Baby."

(Has... has nobody noticed that one of the posters is not Justin Bieber? Seriously?
BONUS POINTS if you can name that face in the comments!)

2. BtheVS Shirt! Drawn by Lucy and printed by Nora:

Buy your own on our store!

3. Tree Towels: We made these for holiday presents for friends and family, and we liked them so much we made more! Drawn by Lucy, and hand dyed/screenprinted by Nora.

Tree Towel Forest!
You can pick up these beauties on Nora's Etsy Page.

Lucy will be showing and selling original artwork and comics pages with a group of local Chicago comic artists. The Burrow will be selling some Nora-Printed T-Shirts featuring STAR WARS ART BY LUCY. If you live in or around Chicago, you should check out this show! The opening is next friday. It's gonna be great, and features art by some of our pals who are awesome (Sarah Becan and Corinne Mucha, among others).
And if we have any T-Shirts left over when the show closes, or a high demand, we'll have them available online for purchase.

  • Kitty Photos of the Week:
Why. Are. You. Not. Feeding. Me.
Ripley, are you ShiShi-Gami?

Oh hai.
If we're going to be making Miyazaki comparisons...

  • Studio Munch of the Week: Hot foamed milk with cinnamon and vanilla and honey, with a stroopwafel warming on top.

Wishing you all blankets!
Stay warm 'till next week.

Studio Log: Starweek Fourteen

  • Studio Projects of the Week:
1. Kickstarter! This is the last week for our Horrible Heartbroken at Hogwarts project fundraiser! We are THRILLED with your support for this adventure, and looking forward to the trip and comic. And the butterbeer. There's only a week left to donate, so if you'd still like a copy of the comic, or one of the other incentives, there's still time.

2. CLANKET! A couple of months ago while joking in front of the TV Lucy mentioned that what she really REALLY wanted for Christmas was a snuggie: a snuggie that was ALSO a costume of her cat. DONE AND DONE. Merry Christmas!
Clanket Couple
Best. Christmas present. Ever.

  • Kitty Photo of the Week:
GOOOAAAAL
Linney gives her new Clanket two big high-fives!

  • Studio Munch of the Week:
We've been compiling a collection of interesting snacks we invent to eat while watching our various shows. Every snack is then named after some aspect of our current TV obsessions. As we are nearing the end of Buffy Season 4 (at which time a certain stuttering Willow-fancier joins the cast) we decided to call these jam/peanutbutter/chocolate-filled pastries we've been making lately:
TARABALLS

In honor of our new favorite character.

  • Studio Quote of the Week:
Lucy: "What's a good synonym for 'Lesbian' here?"
Nora: "I was gonna go with... 'Lesbian.'"

  • Studio Headline of the Week:
Being the serious followers of world news that we are, we thought we should share with you this important headline you might have missed:
WHO INDEED.
(Sung to the tune of this ditty)
Ironically, this story of much adorableness was missed in that particular periodical.

  • Studio Jam of the Week: "Eeeeevil" by They Might Be Giants. Brought to you by this photo of Ripley, because this is her theme song... Or so we sing.

  • Studio Outing of the Week:
We went out to ring in the New Year, and managed to see in 2011 in a joyous fashion. Below is the (slightly off) countdown to the new year captured in an old-fashioned photobooth shoot.
Midnight NYE Photobooth!

Happy New Year, everybody!
